JFY SUNSEED Inverters With Reactive Power Control

JFY SUNSEED Inverters With Reactive Power Control

JFY are a truly advanced inverter company. With a background in UPS systems, it’s no wonder their newest JFY “SUNSEED” inverters are being brought in to tackle compliance changes. ENERGEX recently announced some changes to solar power systems as of July 1, 2014. Some of the changes were postponed to January 1, 2015. Reactive power control was one of these.

Inverter Companies Have Got Us Covered… Right?

Currently there is only 1 inverter on the Australian market with Reactive Power Control. The SMA Sunny Boy naturally. So come January next year, unless all the other inverter gang get behind their desks and start nutting out some new products, the market will be very limited in choice. JFY have gotten on board and are currently developing their brand new “SUNSEED” series inverters which will host a bunch of cool features.

What’s so great about JFY SUNSEED Inverters?

Well for one thing I applaud JFY for taking initiative and getting their reactive power control inverters happening. This was bound to happen with the issues the network has with solar. And we all know there’s room enough in the market for a cheap inverter that does a good job. SMA are a great inverter but they are so expensive.

Here are a few features of the JFY SUNSEED inverters:

  • Active power control
  • Low voltage fault ride through
  • Under/over voltage protection
  • Under/over frequency protection
  • Anti-islanding
  • Response to utility recovery
  • Load rejection

When are JFY SUNSEED Inverters set to hit our sandy beaches?

Well they are still only just in design stages for these units but they should be available around November, 2014 if all goes smoothly. This puts them well-standing in the Australian market when 2015 comes around.

Should I get a non-reactive inverter, or wait for the SUNSEED?

It makes almost NO difference which way you go. It’s mostly all about making ENERGEX happy really. Since the regulations only kick in next year, if you’re thinking about solar, I’d get in while the rebates are still hot.
